My name is John. I am 13 years old. I live with my parents and my two younger brothers. I like school, but before, it was very hard for me. I did not have shoes. Every day, I went to school barefoot. Some children laughed at me and called me names. This made me feel very bad inside. Because of this, I started avoiding school. Sometimes I pretended to be sick. When I went to school, I sat quietly and never raised my hand. I was afraid of people looking at me. During break time, I stayed alone and did not play with others. The day I received my shoes, I felt different. When I put them on, I felt strong and proud. I walked home slowly just to enjoy wearing them. The next day at school, I felt confident. I walked into class without shame. Now, I attend school every day. I sit properly in class and I listen to my teacher. I answer questions and even help my friends. During break time, I play football and run without fear of hurting my feet. I feel equal to other children. These shoes changed how I see myself. I believe in myself now. I want to study hard and become a good person in the future.
